The work

I've been a full-stack software engineer for over fifteen years, with a particular emphasis on product. I'm very much a top-down thinker: I like to orientate myself towards solving fundamental problems and seeing the direct impact that has on users.

I've been working with AI since university, and with the recent developments in large language models it has become a huge interest and hobby of mine. I spend a lot of time following the research and experimenting with new agentic capabilities, especially AI coding: both what you can build around AI and what you can build with it.

I maintain a YouTube channel centred on AI developments and workflows, and what they might mean for the future and the working world, alongside an AI site that tracks the latest models and which ones to use for which purpose. The apps I build ship through Wiseforge, my independent studio.

The toolbox

The languages I reach for:

  • TypeScript and JavaScript
  • Python
  • Swift

And where I spend most of my research time:

  • AI research and the model landscape
  • Agentic capabilities, especially AI coding

Off the clock

I mainly read non-fiction, typically around psychology, philosophy, human nature, systems thinking and anything offering a good conceptual or explanatory framework, with the occasional detour into science fiction. Many of my thoughts, findings and ideas end up as essays or on YouTube.

Beyond work I have a strong interest in football, golf, bouldering, chess and, until recently, the high stress of supporting Arsenal.

That's the gist. The rest comes through better in conversation.

I'm always glad to hear from people building or thinking about interesting things.
